The gravel path below the Topana fortress leads to one of the most beautiful lakes in Croatia - the Blue Lake.
Located on the edge of the city, in the gorge with depths ranging from 300 to 500 meters, it creates a unique visual effect for anyone who finds themselves on its edge.
Descending to the lake, where people swim on warm days, is possible via stone serpentine paths built in 1907. The lake has a kidney shape, and its dimensions vary depending on the water level, with the largest measured length around 800 meters, width around 500 meters, and depth up to 100 meters. It is also not uncommon for the lake to completely dry up, so instead of swimming, locals are known to play football on its bottom.
