Živogošće

About the destination

Živogošće boasts a total of six kilometers of interconnected pebble beaches, making it an exceptionally attractive destination for a relaxing vacation on the Adriatic.

The place, composed of three smaller separate settlements, has a long and rich history dating back to Illyrian and Roman times. The most famous historical relic and a kind of symbol of Živogošće is the Roman epigram from 474 AD. It is one of the finest examples of classical literature on the Adriatic coast and is carved into the rock above the Pokrivenice spring on the seaside. With it, the Roman quaestor Licinian celebrated the source of sweet water, where you can still quench your thirst today.

Hmm?
Živogošće has been inhabited since Illyrian and Roman times, as evidenced by Illyrian tumuli (graves) on the top of Suzine hill and the remains of rustic villas in Mala Duba and Blato.
