Makarska

The administrative and cultural center of the Riviera, the city of Makarska, is its most significant tourist destination.

Nestled harmoniously beneath Biokovo, Makarska is a highly popular destination due to its beaches, natural beauty, and rich offering of diverse tourist attractions catering to a wide range of tastes and needs. Additionally, its central geographical location makes it an almost ideal starting point for exploring the rest of the broader region – from other destinations on the Riviera, to the islands of Brač and Hvar, all the way to the Zabiokovlje area.

The view from the Makarska waterfront of the blue Adriatic Sea and the shores of Brač and Hvar surpasses only that of the city and the Biokovo cliffs when approaching Makarska by boat. If you ascend by car, bicycle, or even on foot to one of the mountain viewpoints, the vista becomes truly spectacular, and the view, which sometimes (allegedly) extends to Italy, is impossible to describe; it must be experienced. Alongside the numerous natural, cultural, and tourist attractions and activities that abound throughout the region, the countless times celebrated sandy and pebbly beaches hold a special place. The beach in Makarska itself stretches almost two kilometers and is widely recognized as the symbol of the city.
