Biokovo Nature Park is one of eleven protected areas in Croatia. It doesn't just have significant geographical, historical, or cultural importance; it's also a treasure trove of natural riches that's definitely worth exploring and enjoying in every possible way.
The park encompasses an area full of interesting geomorphological formations, and it's home to numerous endemic plant and animal species. Additionally, the mountain itself, rising almost vertically above the coast and separating it from the climatically and geographically diverse area of Zabiokovlje, offers unique viewpoints and vistas. One of its most prominent attractions is the peak of Sveti Jure, towering at 1762 meters, making it the third highest peak in Croatia.
Important!
Adventure on Biokovo requires preparation and seriousness, especially when it comes to the amount of water you carry with you, as there are no water sources on the mountain. Additionally, the second highest mountain in Croatia should not be underestimated, even in favorable weather conditions, so high-quality hiking equipment, and preferably experience, are very important.
