Just a mile and a half away from the Blue Lake is the Red Lake, a deep karst pit filled with water.
The lake is considered one of the deepest in Europe, and the name "red" comes from the color of the surrounding rocks. The lake was once a cave and was formed by the collapse of the ceiling. Experts call it a karst wonder because it is shaped like a natural well with a diameter of approximately 200 meters and a depth of over 500 meters. Access to the lake itself is not possible without good mountaineering equipment and knowledge, but you can still enjoy this stunning sight from afar.
